Brett Favre to retire?

Sources are reporting that Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Brett Favre is retiring through text messages sent to several teammates that simply said, ‘’I am done.’’ This after a much talked about offseason that saw the Vikings not pursue Donovan McNabb in possible trades and not select an incumbent in this years NFL draft to possibly replace Favre. Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress shared with the media earlier during a presser, that he had not heard anything directly from the Viking QB, and would prefer to hear it from the ‘’horses’’ mouth. If indeed Brett Favre decides to call it a career, he will leave as a 3-time MVP and as the games all-time leader in career yardage, touchdowns, wins, consecutive starts and unfortunately for number 4, in interceptions thrown. Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosnefels are the two remaining QB’s left on the roster with in game experience who could potentially replace the future hall of famer, but many believe their chances at a Super Bowl would be gone along with Favre. Too early to tell if this 3rd attempt at retirement will stick, but if it is indeed the end for Brett Favre, he would have left the game as he entered it. A gunslingin’ country boy with a heart of a champion, and a propensity for the dramatic, especially when it came to deciding his football future.
